The world’s most expensive surfboard costs a staggering $1.3m, it’s hard to see how this figure would be possible and the type of person that could afford such a price. Roy Stuart created “The Rampant”, its handcrafted design shaped with the hands of a craftsman that’s been making surfboards for over 40 years.
You can see Roy Stuart in action within a video on Surf Report, which also offers a glimpse at shaping the Rampant 10’5″ paulownia wood surfboard. The attention to detail is clear with the Rampant, but then you’d expect this with such a price tag.
The detail is seen within the Rampant Lion logo and performance enhancements like a Vort-X Tunnel Fin, which is designed to provide improved acceleration and speed. The world’s most expensive surfboard is made from Paulownia wood and a concave hull is used to shape the board.
If you were a famous surfer entering the biggest competitions, would you purchase The Rampant for $1.3 million? Take a look at the creation process in more detail within the Surf Report video, or see another video below showcasing the Rampant Lion in Gold on a wooden surfboard.
