iPod touch 6G at new iPad event in Oct

By Peter Chubb - Jul 9, 2014

Some people think if an iPod touch 6th generation arrives it will come at the September event, although this isn’t going to be the case. We can understand why people would think this because up until the current version, they were released in September. However, Apple changed that two years ago when they released the latest model in October.

Apple has made a point of not releasing any other products during its September event, as they like to make it all about the next smartphone and its mobile software, so the iPhone 6 and iOS 8 this year.

iPod touch 6G alongside the iPadPhones Review says that seeing as though the 5G model was released on October 11, 2012, there is a pretty good chance that it will be the same this year, give or take a few days. Apple does not seem to mind sharing its iPad event, and so we could also see a new Apple TV 4G and possibly an iWatch.

There have been some very strange rumors suggesting an early iPad refresh for 2014, but this is not going to happen for two reasons. The first is that Apple now seems comfortable with its new release cycle, and we have heard this before last year, which as you know never came to anything.

There is one more reason, Apple loves to release other products in October, and not having a big crowd pleaser like a new iPad could mean not as many people pay attention to a keynote, as a new media player is not going to gain the same amount of anticipation on its own, although a bit of help from the much-anticipated could help a little.

iPod touch 6th generation patience – Those of you waiting for the new media player have had to be very patience seeing as though it has been almost two years since the current model was released. That tolerance was tested once again a couple of weeks ago when Apple made a minor refresh to the 16GB model by upgrading its camera.

There is a fear that because Apple did this we might have to wait even longer, as they may not want to release an all-new version seeing as though they had only just refreshed one of its models.

We have read rumors in the past that Apple could skip 2014 and release its new touch in 2015 seeing as though they look set to release the iWatch, or even two models. The reason for this is because too many releases would make it harder for consumers to decide which device they needed, and the new smartwatch will need all the help it can get, and if that means pushing the release of a updated device back, then so be it.
