There has been a great deal of speculation as to the Mazda MX-5 2015 exterior styling, as well as those all-important specs, and we can tell you that all will be revealed in September, a month before we expected. These details were not meant to be known to us until the Paris Motor Show in October.
We do not know for certain how the next generation Mazda MX-5 will be revealed, if it will be at a small event, or online. However, what ever happens, at least we will know far more than we do now in two months time.
Mazda has treated us to a few tidbits over the months, such as details of its chassis, but what we really want to know is what it will look like on the outside. The design of its exterior is probably one of its most important aspects, although handling is top of the list.
The Japanese car manufacturer also gave us a sneak peak as to the transmission and suspension that will be used in the all-new MX-5. We do know that it will still be a rear-wheel drive along with various engine choices.
Let’s hope that Pete Birtwhistle, who is in charge of design at Mazda comes up with styling that will make us stand back in amazement. He has said that it will look edgier and will have a few design flares borrowed from the Mazda 3 and 6.
Going back to the engine, we do worry that the new MX-5 will be underpowered, as the one possibly being used only produces 118bhp. This seems way off what is needed, and while we know the vehicle is going to be small and light, we don’t want an engine that will scream too loud through the gears. Maybe they can still use the same 2.0-lite engine planned, but add a turbo in for good measure?
