Alien: Isolation Oculus Rift for adrenaline junkies

By Daniel Chubb - Jul 1, 2014

From all the games showcased with Oculus Rift during E3 2014, one of the most scary has to be Alien: Isolation that would be too much for some people on normal flat TVs. Today, we’ve pulled together some of the best Alien: Isolation Oculus Rift videos that reveal this combination will be perfect for adrenaline junkies and horror movie fanatics.

There’s a few differences between a standard HDTV version and Oculus Rift, other than game immersion, which includes the way you use certain controls and how you will see the environment. You’ll see the background not in focus when looking at your proximity sensor, but when using Oculus Rift you look down at the sensor and watch as the marker moves closer to you.

The adrenaline rush is something else, considering you’re not looking towards the area where the Alien is coming from and combined with the immersion it takes horror games like this to another level. When playing you should always have spare underwear nearby, just in case it gets too much and you cannot contain yourself.

Alien: Isolation is harder when using Oculus Rift for the realism factor alone, and you’ll spend a lot of time looking down at the sensor rather than where you are going, so expect plenty of jumps and an increased heart rate.

We’ve included a number of Oculus Rift gameplay videos below with Alien: Isolation, so take a look and see how people react first hand. The final video is older, from last year, but it reveals some of the funniest Oculus Rift reactions ever and is well worth a watch if you haven’t seen it.
