We know that Microsoft were planning to release a Surface Mini tablet this year, but it didn’t come with the launch of the Surface Pro 3 as many had expected. This week, we have found out some additional details which may explain why we didn’t see the tablet.

It was only a few days ago when we told you that Microsoft had mentioned the Mini in the official Surface Pro 3 manual, only to accidentally leave the mistake in print after the tablet had launched.

This confirmed that the Mini version was no longer a myth, but it still didn’t explain why it hasn’t hit the shelves yet. Now, the reason could be that it didn’t have enough defining features to give Microsoft the confidence that they needed in order to give it the go ahead.

The information has come from Digitimes who add that production may have stopped due to negative responses from Microsoft’s brand vendor clients. Also, this would be bad news for Microsoft to hear even after the company has paid the costs for the module development and production equipment.

With this in mind, we switch our attention to features that the Surface Mini should have, according to your tastes. We hear rumors that a touch version of Office may be one of the highlights for a future launch of the Mini, but what would you like to see?

Clearly, the iPad, Galaxy tablets and Nexus range are leading the way at the moment. What features on a Surface Mini would make you choose it ahead of these rivals?
