The whole Android upgrade issue has now become far more confusing for those that support the platform, this is because they are uncertain if they should carry on and issue update 4.4.3, or skip it in favor of 4.4.4? Having said that, some handsets could skip both of these and wait for Android L, although we cannot be certain how long it will be before its release.
HTC has already ran into this Dilemma and it looks as though the planned update will be skipped and so we can expect to see HTC One M8 Android 4.4.4 update in wither July or August instead. However, we do know that the M8 will also get the Android L update within 90 days of it being launched, which means that most of the problems and bugs should have been rectified.
One of the reasons that HTC might skip Android 4.4.3 on its latest flagship handset is due to the fact that 4.4.4 is only a minor update, and so far easier for HTC to combine the two updates into one.
We can understand that M8 owners will be very happy with this outcome, especially the fact that it will get Android L 3 months after launch, but what other HTC handsets will be updated to L? This is a very tough question to answer, especially as we are uncertain of the Android L system requirements.
Are you miffed that your HTC One M8 still runs 4.4.2, and would you rather they rush out 4.4.3 rather than wait around a month or so for the latest version of KitKat?
