The 2014 edition of the Nexus 10 was a no show at Google I/O yesterday, and the smaller model was MIA as well. While we held out hope to see both these tablets yesterday, it’s not like we were too surprised, seeing as though Google seems to now prefer a standalone keynote event to launch new tablets.
Pinpointing Nexus 8 release date – If we are to believe rumors, then the Nexus 7 is to be discontinued to make way for the slightly larger tablet from Google, and if this is true, then we will be able to get a better idea as to when it will be released by looking at the last-gen model of the 7-inch Nexus tablet.
Back in 2012 the Nexus 7 was released in June and last year it was pushed back to July. With that in mind and with June almost over, July is starting to look very interesting to us.

We can’t be certain that the tablet has even been built, but an 8-inch version would make perfect sense as this would mean it could compete on a level playing field with the iPad mini because of the same screen size.
People have already taken to Twitter because of the no show, as they held out hope at the very last stages of yesterday’s Google I/O keynote. Let’s hope that next month will give Android users what they want because the most up-to-date Nexus tablet is now 11 months old and is in need of an update, we just don’t know for certain if this will be a 7-inch or 8-inch device.
Would you rather a Nexus 7 or 8 released next month?
