This month started with WWDC 2014, then E3 and to end the month we have Google I/O starting later today. The Google I/O 2014 start time is 9 am PDT, which is 12 pm ET and 5 pm BST, which is the ideal time for a keynote for those in the UK because many workers would have finished work and would be at home.
For those of you in the US and are interested to see what Google I/O will bring this year, then you might have to keep checking Google I/O 2014 app to see if there is anything that you might be interested in.
Last minute Google I/O 2014 predictions from today’s keynote – It’s always hard to know just what Google has planned because they have a habit of changing things a little, so one time we will see new hardware, and the other its more about new or improved services.
Google needs to stay ahead of the game when it comes to Apple and so we feel they really need to revamp its mobile OS rather than minor updates like the most recent Android 4.4.4 was. There has been a lot of speculation as to an Android 5.0 release, but we know how much Google like to surprise us and we could see an Android 4.5 update unveiled today instead.
Having said that, while Google might not release Android 4.5 or 5.0 any time soon, they might at least give us a sneak peak as to its features, just as Apple did earlier this month with iOS 8.
Nexus 8 and 10 for 2014 – Google really needs to deliver in terms of announcing a new Nexus tablet because it’s almost a year since the Nexus 7 2014 Edition was released and more than a year and a half since the Nexus 10. It is looking more likely that there will not be a new Nexus 7 this year because it would seem that Google believes a slightly larger device would be better up against the iPad and Samsung rivals.
The Nexus 8 could very well be unveiled later today, as could the 2014 Nexus 10, but then again they could shock us all and not release any new hardware today and rather save this for a separate event, just like they did with the Nexus 7 2nd generation last year.
For those of you who believe that Google will unveil the Nexus 6 today, then you might be disappointed because the likelihood is slim to none. If there was to be a Nexus 6 handset, which we are still not certain of, then it will not be announced until later this year, more nearer the release of the iPhone 6.
Two products that we feel are almost certain to be showcased later today are more on Android Wear and Google Up in Your Car, which has been set up to take on Apple’s CarPlay.
We have highlighted the most obvious predictions, and to find out if any of these come to light, then check out the Google I/O 2014 schedule, or as we said early, the official app for the event.
