Facebook is not one to give up and for that reason is having another stab at taking on Snapchat. Two days ago Facebook released Slingshot and as a way to gain an insight into what people think, we thought that a few video reviews were in order. While it is still early days, we will be able to gain a general idea as to whether the social media giant is onto a winner this time, or not.
What’s it about – Before we take a look at a few reviews, we thought we would just offer a little reminder as to what Facebook Slingshot is all about. This app is all about sharing those special moments, so if you have a photo or video, then you can use Slingshot to upload it and share it to your friends. However, the only way they will be able to see it is if the accept the content, meaning you will not be inundated with images and videos if you do not wish to.
You can unlock new shots by slinging a photo or video back to someone, and remember that the content does not last forever because once you swipe away the image or video is gone. More details of this app can be found on iTunes, or Google Play.
The first video looks closely at wannabe Snapchat killer Slinshot. You get to see these two apps put side-by-side just to see how they compare.
In the second Facebook Slingshot review we get a quick look at how the app works. What we like about this video is how the reviewer takes a slower approach, allowing you to take in more information without losing your way.
We can see in the third video that a lot of comparisons are being made between Slingshot and Snapchat, because the former is so similar to the latter, although this was always going to be an issue.
Finally, the fourth video takes a more in-depth look at Slingshot because it runs for almost double the amount of time. They say that while on the surface it is similar to its rival, but then offers far more to make it more social, which as we know Facebook already does so well, and so we hold out hope that its new standalone app can do well this time around.
Have you downloaded Slingshot, if so what are your first thoughts?
