2014 Mac mini annoyance following cheaper iMac release

We had suspected that Apple would update its iMac later this year with either a cheaper model, or even releasing a Retina or 4K versions. Well, it seems as though the former was the right one to put your money on, as Apple finally released a cheaper iMac, although this has sparked of a bit of debate with some of our readers.

Several Product Reviews readers have said that they accept that Apple needed to do something in order to bring the iMac to consumers with lower budgets, but the new budget iMac is “way low end”, as someone put it.

Another of our readers said, “My 2011 iMac is starting to look new against this cheaper iMac with its 1.4GHz processor and Intel HD Graphics 5000.” We do agree with him in one respect, but then again the 2011 model was a lot fatter, and you also have to remember that this CPU can go a lot faster with its Turbo mode if needed.

However, one thing is rather clear with our readers, they are annoyed that Apple has passed over a new Mac mini once again. There is a real worry that Apple might not release a new mini this year, although this would be a silly move.

2014 Mac mini release annoyance – The reason why a new mini is needed is because there is a general consensus that people do not wish to spend a huge sum of money on a computer that is now two years old.

Going back to the cheaper iMac for 2014, let’s not get too upset about the hardware, as many people do not want a top spec desktop, and are more than happy to spend less because anything more would just be a waste.
