We have a quick heads-up for Minecraft fans who are specifically waiting for the Minecraft PS4 release date. During E3, Mojang has given another update on the PS4 version and now we have some details regarding Minecraft PS4 multiplayer to share.
As most of you already know, the PS4 version of Minecraft will be available to buy this August. 4J Studios have still not announced a specific release date yet though, only saying that it will be out sometime in August.
You should also know that those who bought the digital version on PS3 will be able to upgrade to the PS4 version for a small fee, with Mojang currently in the process of trying to make the same offer available to those who bought the disc copy of Minecraft PS3 Edition.
Now, we bring you an update from Mojang’s Owen Hill, who has confirmed that Minecraft PS4 multiplayer will support 8 players online. Some of you had hoped to see more player support, but we also can tell you that you’ll be able to enjoy four-player split screen using one PS4 console only which is nice.
This should make Minecraft on PS4 a great experience when playing smaller maps and especially if you already have friends that live close by who can share your console.
Unfortunately, there’s no update on the Minecraft PS Vita version, but hopefully we will hear about the Vita’s status in the next update.
What is your reaction to 8-player support online – are you happy about this or a little disappointed?
