New SingStar app for iOS and Android, not Windows

By Updated on

The wait for SingStar for the PS4 seems to be taking forever, but having to wait around might not be such a bad thing because there is going to be a huge change to the game. There is to be a free SingStar app that will do away with the microphones and use the built-in mic on your smartphone.

SingStar app is coming to Android and iOS, but Windows Phone will not be supported right away. The app will work with both PS3 and PS4 versions of our favorite signing game.

It was way back in 2006 when SingStar got rid of the wires and replaced them with wireless mics, and so it made perfect sense to make the transition to do away with the mics completely and to make full use of smartphones, and you will also be able to use the app to do much more within the game.

Not much is known about the app at this time, but Sony has said that one of the features will be to allow for creating playlists direct from your phone. We also expect there to be ways in which you can share what you have sung socially via the app, as we all know how much you love to show the SingStar community just how good, or in most cases, how bad you are.

You can still use the mics if you wish, and you will be happy to learn that the PS3 SingStar mics will work with the upcoming PS4 version. We have embedded a trailer for you below, so get your voice ready because it will not be long before you will be singing into your smartphone.
