Just when we thought things were bad enough for Audi after dealers misinformed people about the NCAP rating of the Audi R8, which as we know was never tested, it would seem that there are a few other models to add to that list, and not just Audi.
It seems that misinforming people about NCAP results is a widespread issue; one I feel needs to be addressed. The problem I have is that many people will base their buying decision on the safety of a car, and to learn that a car had not been tested, when you were told by the car dealers salesperson that it was is surely grounds for some sort of legal action?
What other cars were not tested, when we were told they had been? The Euro NCAP Audi A5, A7, A8 and R8 ratings are missing. The Euro NCAP BMW 6 and Series ratings are also missing, as are a number of Mini’s.
The Lexus LS, RX and NX Euro NCAP ratings are MIA, as are several Mercedes models.
We would just like to point out that these Euro NCAP tests are not a legal requirement and so are just a voluntary test that car manufacturers can submit their cars to if they wish to do so. However, the body behind the Euro NCAP tests often select cars at will, which can work in a cars favor if results are very good.
If you are buying from a car dealer, then our source requests that you do your own research into the safety of a car, rather than rely on them.
