Wolfenstein: The New Order game length

By Alan Ng - May 13, 2014

It has been a long time waiting but we are almost ready for a new Bethesda game. The highly anticipated Wolfenstein The New Order release date is imminent and now we have a heads-up for you on the amount of content that is going to be available in the game.

MachineGames have the honor of developing the new game in the classic franchise and you’ll be able to pick up the game on PS3, Xbox 360, PS4, Xbox One and of course PC on May 20.

Wolfenstein is going to be running on the iD Tech 5 engine, which is the same engine from iD Software that will power the promising The Evil Within from Tango GameWorks and maybe even Dishonored 2 as well in the near future.

Back to Wolfenstein though, as we can tell you that the game will feature a campaign length of around 20 hours. This relates to a single playthrough of the game collecting everything and accessing all areas.

Don’t worry if you feel this is on the short side though, as creative director Jens Matthies has already promised that The New Order will have adequate replay value, making it worthwhile for players to go through the game again – with hints of a second timeline to explore.

With the focus being on single-player here, it will be interesting to see how Wolfenstein The New Order multiplayer looks in comparison and what effort has been spent making this worthwhile for buyers.

But if this has a good multiplayer then double the pleasure.

I don’t give a single sht about multi-player! GIBE MORE QUALITY SINGLE-PLAYER STORY MODE GAMES!

  • Chris

There is no multiplayer, as the article suggests.

Hold up, I didn’t say that! I just said that there will be a big focus on SP, there will probably be a multiplayer!

It’s specifically been said by the developers and publisher that this is strictly a singleplayer-only game. There is no multiplayer, straight and simple.
Thank God, I say. The Machine Games guys (many of them formerly of Starbreeze Studios) know that singleplayer campaigns are their strength; multiplayer for both The Darkness and Assault On Dark Athena were fairly weak, and I think it’s fair to say that they’re smartly sticking to what they do best.
