Samsung health press event to lack hardware

By Peter Chubb - May 12, 2014

Whenever we hear of a Samsung event, we automatically think of a new smartphone, tablet or a new range of TVs or digital cameras, anything else never seems to register for consumers. However, there is far more to Samsung than just consumer based products, as the South Korean company is also big in the health care business.

On May 28th, 2014 Samsung is to hold a health press event and before the industry gets too ahead of itself, they are not going to launch new hardware, so what can we expect?

Samsung has said that the event will not see them launch any new healthcare products, and it seems they wish to keep what they will announce at the event a secret. We would love to offer you insight into what Samsung will be talking about during the event, but it does seem perfect timing ahead of Apple’s WWDC event a week later.

Apple looks set to announce its new Healthbook software, and so we have to wonder if Samsung aims to be the first to start a new era in software that could kick off the health craze into another gear?

We have seen some of the big consumer electronic players get in on the action, but their focus has only been very narrow up until this point, but the likes of Apple and Samsung see a potential in this market.

iOS 8 is expected to have a heavy focus on health, and so we believe an iWatch will be released later this year, but how can Samsung surprise us when they already have the new Gear range on the market?
