New Koenigsegg to contend world’s fastest car title

By Peter Chubb - May 12, 2014

The world’s fastest car title is still up for debate because while the Hennessey Venom hit a record speed of 270.49mph, Guinness still believes the Veyron Super Sport is the quickest because the Venom never did two runs, which is required to enter the record books. However, this might not matter soon if Koenigsegg has its way.

A new Black Koenigsegg Agera R has been spotted and what makes this version special is its proposed top speed of 430 to 440 km/h, which is 267.19 mph to 273.404 mph. If it is the latter, the new Koenigsegg would become the world’s fastest production car. As long as it makes two runs.

The Agera R from Koenigsegg was already a fearsome and menacing car, and a new example of this hyercar has been spotted at the Principality of Monaco, which seems to be the best place for it to get some attention, although it needs to be different in order to stand out against other Agera R models.

You will see in the image of the new example thanks to GTspirit that it is even more striking than the current version, and that it has been finished in an all-black design, although there is a hint of silver stripes to balance things out.

However, what really stands out is its white interior, which just goes perfectly with the black exterior. While we have no specs for the new Black Koenigsegg Agera R, we do hope that it will be able to take the fight to the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport and the Hennessey Venom, and that there will be a limited production run.
