We all know that a successor to the iPad is coming this year, which will end up either being the iPad Air 2, the iPad Pro or even both. What we want to talk about though is the surprise and exciting possibility of the new iPad 2014 model coming with Beats Audio integrated.
If you haven’t heard the big news that is coming out of everywhere at the moment, Apple are reportedly in talks to buy Beats Audio from Dr Dre and Jimmy Lovine for a cool $3.2 billion.
If the move goes ahead, it will be the biggest acquisition that Apple has ever made, surpassing the $404m that Apple used to buy NeXT back in 1996. Apple are remaining silent on the move at the moment, but what an exciting future it could be for audio fans thinking of buying the iPhone 6 and iPad Air 2.
You won’t need us to remind you how popular HTC’s smartphones have become, specifically due to being marketed with Beats Audio technology from Dr Dre. Imagine if Apple has been plotting the move behind the scenes for months and are already planning to launch a barrage of Beats Audio supported products during the holiday.
Apple buys Beats: If the technology isn’t ready to be implemented yet, there is also the possibility of Apple simply shipping the likes of the iPad Air 2 or iPad Pro with a set of Beats headphones inside the box. One example could even be with the iPad Pro being Apple’s ‘premium’ iPad product, but the incentive for consumers paying more is an included free set of Beats headphones that wouldn’t come in standard boxes.
It’s early days yet though, but just something to get excited about. Let us know your reactions to the whispers suggesting that Apple is buying out Beats for $3.2 billion. Android owners out there: Would you consider switching to the iPhone and iPad if it comes with Beats Audio?
