The Dying Light release date has been delayed with a launch month now set for February of next year. Techland explained that setting back the games launch will allow the developers to be more innovative and they aim to deliver an open world with “unprecedented” freedom of movement.
While Dying Light could have seen a release sooner than next year, the game wouldn’t have been up to a level good enough in the developers opinion and they explained the game should not launch “before it is ready”. The developer has a clear vision of what they want to achieve, so this extra time will allow them to deliver.
Open world games like Grand Theft Auto V really give players somewhere to let loose and explore, but Techland tease us by stating the “Natural Movement element” of their game will change your expectations of future open world games. It is great to see a developer really focusing on the gameplay, and putting that above getting to a Dying Light release as soon as possible.
You can count on a lot of the games features being revealed during E3 2014. Dying Light will launch on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3, and also PC early next year.
