CSI: Hidden Crimes energy frustration

If you are a fan of puzzle solving and especially like the CSI TV show, you may be interested in trying out one of the latest apps called CSI: Hidden Crimes. It is available to download for free now on Android and iPhone, but users have discovered that progress is limited with the game locked behind a frustrating paywall.

CSI Hidden Crimes features a fantastic interface and characters which you’ll instantly recognise from the show. Players will have to discover & explore crime scenes as they go along, then process them to find clues followed by a analysis.

You can play the game knowing that the puzzles have been written by the same writer of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation Jack Gutowitz, adding that nice layer of authenticity on top.

Those playing the game may run into problems though, with the biggest sign of frustration being energy that is needed to complete scenes. It takes 15 energy a time with the player only being given 80, as a result you’ll soon find yourself out of energy and wondering if the whole experience is worth the time spent.

Here’s how one user summarized the game:

“A cool game, BUT – Waiting for evidence to be processed is ok, but waiting for energy is find killing the experience… You can only play it for about 5 minutes a day”

Free to play games can be fun, but they have to include a reasonable grind level too to make it somewhat bearable for those that don’t want to spend too much money, as opposed to those who are happy to pay to keep the game running.

CSI Hidden Crimes updates have been promised to add even more episodes to the game, but do you think the developers need to ease up on the energy restrictions?

Let us know if you have been playing this game since launch and if you have had problems running out of energy within minutes.
