Given the choice between the Mini or Fiat 500, the latter model would get my vote all day long, not only with their original designs, but the modern ones as well. However, when it comes to the 500L that is a different story because this five-door version has lost all the charm that makes the small vehicle so cute and stylish.
Fiat knows and must see this as a reason why sales of the 500L have been a little slow, and so thought the only way to help increase sales was by some clever marketing. Fiat have teamed up with the makers of the 2014 Godzilla movie to try and get the word out that the 500L is still fun, but larger than the standard model at the same time.
When you watch the Fiat 500L commercial you will be forgiven for thinking that the beast cannot stand the taste of the larger model because he is seen snacking on the standard models, but when it comes to the 500L he spits it out.
However, it all becomes clear when at the end we are told that Godzilla has bitten off more than he can chew because the Fiat 500L is larger than you think.
We can already see some interesting comments on YouTube, with some of them saying that this commercial has nothing to do with the car itself, but our guess is that they never waited till the end, because it is clearly about the size of the Fiat 500L.
The Fiat 500L has a rival in the Kia Soul and back in March it was reported that the latter was selling far better because the 500L seems to have got it all wrong, which you can see in the video review below. It is a real shame because the smaller 500 is one of, if not the best small cars on the road. Maybe it is time Fiat either discontinued the 500L or turned things on its head and completely redesigned it?
