If you are looking for one of the best Smart TV user interfaces that also improve on the Sky Go app or player, then it looks like LG has been listening to your feedback and plan to offer a range of televisions in 2014 with this feature.
The webOS powered Smart TVs will release in late May, and some tech enthusiasts predict the new UI will be the best yet for a Smart TV. Users will be able to watch Sky TV and control the channels all from within the new LG TV UI, making it one of the simplest solutions to date.
When the new LG webOS Smart TVs release they will support Sky’s EPG and as such, users can control Sky TV content using LG’s very own remote and without having to swap to the Sky channel. The user interface will aim to give you a taste of everything in one menu, so you can expect to see content from a range of apps all in one place.
Xbox One users will know that when watching a movie within the consoles UI, you can a few options and can select from a number of apps to watch the movie in. Something similar will be offered within the new LG Smart TV UI, and if you choose to watch some content like a movie, then you will be given the choice of different apps like Sky or Netflix. This really is the best integration of Sky into a smart television yet, in our opinion.
Are you happy that LG is taking the lead to integrate Sky’s online EPG data with their webOS UI? Would you like to see all Smart TVs support Sky content better in the future? It is worth mentioning that Sky control will also benefit from using the voice controls and Magic Remote gestures.
