Ford Mustang 2015 vs. 2014, in a nutshell

In just one weeks time the 2015 Ford Mustang pre-orders will begin and production will start in August, with its release date expected to be towards the end of the year. Now that people will be able to pre-order the all-new Mustang, and that the first phase of production will begin in three months time, it is the perfect time to have another look at how the two compare, as there are some of you who are still sitting on the fence.

Over the years Ford has managed to keep the design of the Mustang very fresh, but the next generation model is a huge departure from the current design, and so the Ford Mustang 2015 vs. 2014 showdown will be an interesting one because the all-new design has not been welcomed by all.

The Chevy Camaro has been countering punches from Mustang for years, but it does look as though the latter is currently winning the fight, but how long for? Ford would tell you that the 2015 Mustang will take the fight to the Camaro, but if they are facing issues from die-hard Mustang fans, then things might not go Ford’s way.

When looking at a Ford Mustang 2015 review or two during recent auto events it is pretty easy to get a picture of just what the industry thinks, and while its design has been the most-talked about topic, there is far more that needs to be considered.

Ford Mustang 2015 vs. 2014

Take fuel economy, the 2015 Ford Mustang has a choice of three engines and because its aerodynamics are far better than that of the 2014 model, the mpg figures will be more impressive. Another factor is thanks to the 2015 model being 200 pounds lighter than the 2014 model. The 2014 Mustang can achieve around 31 mpg highway compared to 33 mpg highway for the 2015 version,

Over the years the Mustang has been a reliable car, and so Ford needs to carry on this tradition and so it is no surprise that Ford has working hard on using quality materials, along with an emphasis on overall build quality.

The technology used on the 2014 Mustang over the 2015 model is remarkable because Ford knows that they cannot sit around while rivals get a jump on them. The new MyFord Touch infotainment system, Burnout Control, Intelligent Key passive entry system as standard and improved Track Apps makes the 2015 an even better version of the Mustang, but is it value for money?

The current Ford Mustang comes with some very attractive offers, such as $3,500 in cash rebates to loans from as little as 2.9 percent APR. Prices start from as little as $22,510 for the current model. We still do not know the 2015 Ford Mustang price, but we expect it to be a little more than the current version, especially those that make use of the new EcoBoost engine. However, we do know what the 2015 Mustang color options will be.

Which Mustang gets your money, the 2014 or 2015 model?

Both are nice. S197 was a muscle car designed for straight line performance. The upcoming is more balanced it seems

2014 looks more like a Mustang. I hope the new one has a telescoping steering wheel? I would wait for a few years to allow Ford to work out the bugs as they always have them.

I cant wait to see the track performance from the 2015, I am tired of the mustang being slightly behind the Camaro on the track

  • Pinhead117

The 2014 is so much better looking than the 2015-new one lighter and I don’t think it looks as good a muscle car as the 2014-that year is perfection!
