Those of you who are hoping to see a Destiny PC release date in the near future can breath a sigh of relief. After perhaps initially believing that Destiny wouldn’t be released on PC at all, we have now heard from Bungie who say that it could still happen.
As most of you know, Destiny is course for a release on September 9 with the game coming to PS4, PS3, Xbox One and Xbox 360 only. Many fans were initially upset that a PC version was not announced, with Bungie saying back in November 2013 that a PC version wouldn’t be coming as they didn’t have the resources for it.
They also said at the time that they ‘wouldn’t spread themselves thin so that it negatively harms the other platforms’, adding that they had enough to focus on with last-gen and next-gen versions.
Skip forward to the present though and we have some encouraging news to share. Here is what Bungie’s Lars Bakken told Eurogamer in a recent interview. When asked again about a PC version, he had this to say in response:
“I wish it was that simple. It’s pretty complicated. That doesn’t mean it can’t happen in the future, it just means it won’t happen right now. So when I’m playtesting and I’m trying to play PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PS3, that’s a lot of work – Adding another thing on there is just crazy. It’s crazy to think of right now.”
While it is obviously not a confirmation yet, it’s a lot more positive than what we were hearing about a PC version last year. It sounds to us like the community need to step up and make their voices heard to Bungie and Activision that a PC version needs to happen.
What are your thoughts on the new stance by Bungie? Are you somebody who would pay good money to see a PC version of Bungie in the future?
