Nokia Lumia 930 US release date desire

By Updated on

If you were waiting for Nokia’s next superphone after the Nokia Lumia 925, it looks like the company will give everyone what they want with the impressive Nokia Lumia 930. It features some fantastic specs, not to mention shipping with Windows Phone 8.1 too.

There may be some disappointment in the air though. Consumers are slowly starting to find out that the Nokia Lumia 930 US release date may not happen for a long time.

You should be reminded that the recently released Nokia Lumia Icon is exclusive to Verizon in the US. The Lumia 930 is essentially the global version of the Icon and as a result a US release may not happen.

Verizon has an exclusive deal with Nokia on the Lumia Icon and Big Red will not want to see any competing new Lumia smartphones on other networks. If you were waiting for the Nokia Lumia 930 AT&T, Sprint or T-Mobile release, we’re afraid to say that you are going to be waiting a long time.

As you can imagine, this is bad news for those that don’t want to buy the Icon on Verizon. One user as highlighted above has even voiced his displeasure by saying that he will pick up an iPhone 6 from Apple instead.

The Nokia Lumia 930 is looking like a truly awesome phone. With this in mind, let us know if you are disappointed that it doesn’t appear to be coming to the US, due to the Lumia Icon exclusive on Verizon.

I’m happy with my 1520 but they should’ve gotten both green and orange in the beginning. That’s the only thing that pisses me off!

I am more upset with the potential delay for US due to Verizon if this article is to be believed. I love my 920 (ported to T-Mobile) and the 930 is the next step up and I can’t wait to try it. The 925 was a follower to the 920 but it lacked the 32gb storage and wireless charging and I will not change carriers for the ICON. If Nokia (and Microsoft) can’t get out of their own way on this, they will never catch up to Apple and Google. The biggest barrier for Windows phones is getting people to try them. If the consumer can’t get the best out their then they (MS) will always be third place or worse.

I absolutely love the lime green 930

Hell yea I’m mad. And frustrated. I want a windows phone that can match or beat the s5 and iPhone 6 this year that I can use with t-mobile. So many ppl are having problems with the icon on t-mobile. Having the 930 in the US wouldv been an amazing thing. I dont hate mi 920, I jst want the 3rd column of tiles.

The lumia 920 will get the option for 3 row tiles in wp8.1

      • Dominic Shzl

whoa, really? Thats hella cool. Ok…i dont need the 930 then…but I am starting to think about the 1020

  • Disappointed

I’ve owned a lumia 900 for almost 2 years now. Ever since the galaxy s4 came out I’ve yearned for a windows phone with similar specs. Its highly dissapointing that after 2 YEARS, my only option is to either dump AT&T or go with the latest greatest 5″ android. Boo Microsoft. Boo Nokia.

I’m in the same boat, still rocking the Nokia Lumia 900. It’s too bad that after waiting 2 years for an upgrade, after being an early adopter of the nokia windows phone platform, that there isn’t a true current flagship available. The 1520 is just too big for my taste. I think they will have the true flagship on ATT preceding this holiday season though. Hopefully it will be as indestructible as the 900.

        Still have my Lumia
900… Been waiting for the next phone for a long while. Now Verizon has an
exclusive on the 929? US version of 930 not coming? 930 not on the correct
bands to get an unlocked one and use it in US anyway?

I am completely disgusted w/ MS and Nokia for pulling this crap. Why the hell
would you make an exclusivity agreement with Verizon when WP needs more people
to use their phones… This completely alienated potential and loyal users
        alike. Wildly disappointed… I think it’s
        time for a droid…

        • Mr Wilburn

If the Lumia 830 is announced on Sept. 4th and available on ATT and the Seahawks beat the Packers, I’m getting the Lumia 830.

Grrr. I hope Microsoft stops this habit of doing carrier-exclusive releases here in the US. For a platform that desperately needs more users, this seems stupid. And many of the existing WP users are loyal fans, so doing carrier-exclusive deals is a big slap in the face, especially when you change which carrier gets the exclusivity deal!!!! When Apple was still doing carrier-exclusive deals with the iPhone, they weren’t stupid enough to switch major carriers.

If AT&T lost interest in the exclusivity deal, the smart thing to do would be to just release on all of them. This would be best for consumers. But maybe there was some business deal that contributed to this decision. This seems weird though, as WP isn’t really popular enough to be a big draw for any carrier over the other.

thats bs….. verizon sucks D*CK with its over the top prices… they just need to make the 930 a 19 mp camera. then the contract wont apply. screw VZN man forreal

  • Anon

I hate verizon for even doing this type of thing and will never switch to them.

  • JayT

So if I want a phone I cant have it because Verizon does not want! Guess i will have to buy the I phone instead!

  • Mitchell

Wait, I thought Microsoft wanted to be in the phone business! GM wants to sell cars but only has one dealership! One step forward and two steps back!!!

  • levin

IPhone 6 is going to get all the money that was going to be spent on the Nokia 930. At least all of mine…..

  • khart

just buy an unlocked version, it costs about the same as a new iPhone will.

  • justsomeguy

I would have gone to the store and already bought a 930 if it was available in the U.S. on T-Mobile. If Windows wants their US market to grow they need to give more high end phone options, outside of Verizon.
