Virus Shield removal for Android app scam

Android owners know that there is a greater chance that they can fall victim of a virus when compared to an iOS device, and for that reason some of them decided the best course of action is to download antivirus from the Google Play Store. However, you are not always safe there because some of them claim to do something, when if fact they do not.

A fine example of this is with the Virus Shield app, which was said to offer your Android device the security protection it deserves. This app has proven so popular that it became the number one paid app on the Play Store, but all is not what it seems.

Android Police reports that the Virus Shield has been removed from the store because it was a scam. While it promised to be the best protection against malware, spyware and harmful viruses, along with improving the overall speed of your Android device, it did none of the above

There have been apps very similar in the past that promised to be the be-all and end-all, but they were unable to fulfill their potential, although they did still manage to offer some sort of protection. However, Virus Shield is different because it does absolutely noting. All it does is change the X image to check and that’s it.

We are not completely sure how long the app was on the Google Play Store before it was reported as a fake, and we do not know what will happen to those who paid the $3.99 for the app.

Do you think it is about time Google started to get tougher, although we know it will be a tough task considering Android is open source?
