Highly anticipated monster shooter Evolve is coming later this year and is expected to redefine co-operative gameplay. Developer Turtle Rock has implied that the Evolve co-op experience will be powered by previously successful methods, like those employed on previous title Left 4 Dead.
If you are not already familiar with the concept of Evolve, the game revolves around a team of 4 hunters tracking and killing an alien creature. The catch is that the creature is controlled by another player, adding unpredictability and surprise to the co-op experience. Its simple, 4 V 1 and the team or individual will win based on whether hunter or beast rules supreme in the jungle. We already know the game was inspired by Predator.
Turtle Rock Studios founder and lead designer Chris Ashton has been speaking to VG247 about Evolve, mentioning the experiences taken from Left 4 Dead. Ashton has highlighted the importance of team mates in Evolve, essentially survival will depend on how players work together. The all action show off trying to be a hero will not prevail in this game, each player’s role is as vital as the next.
Left 4 Dead had some elements that the developers were not pleased with and inspiration has been taken from the worst parts as well as the best. Turtle Rock were very keen to make sure they addressed these issues in Evolve, ensuring options were not limited. Built using next gen game engines and graphics, Evolve should be one of the best games of 2014 when it launches later in Q3.
What game release are you looking most forward to this year, is Evolve at the top of your list?
