There may be some of you undecided on whether to buy the recently released Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes or not. A good indication of the game’s quality is normally reflected in the majority of critic reactions, perhaps this Ground Zeroes review roundup will help you decide.

Normally a majority of the big video games review sites give fairly similar verdicts on new releases, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes is actually quite mixed. The highest score awarded to the game has been posted by NextGenGamingBlog who rated MGS5 as 9.5/10. Eurogamer also liked Ground Zeroes very much and branded it worthy of 9/10.

Gamespot, OPM and IGN all believed that Konami’s newest title was worth a strong 8/10, with Gaming Bolt thinking slightly less giving a 7.5/10 rating. CVG, NowGamer and Game Informer see Ground Zeroes as an experience which merits a 7/10 score (Joystiq 3.5/5). This is normally the threshold for games to be reviewed in a positive light, titles below a 7 can be iffy.

Ground Zeroes now starts to slip from first class action game to Average Joe with Push Square passing a 6/10 sentence. Games Beat and Polygon thought least of MGS5 by deciding that for all of its hype and status, it was worth only 5.5/10 and 55/100. Kotaku seemingly gave a thumbs up to Ground Zeroes by rating it as ‘yes’ which can be assumed as a positive verdict.

The general feeling which has been common with these reviews is that Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes is too short. Despite all of the game’s excellence in graphics, effects and audio; the story is over far too quickly and there was certainly room for more. Perhaps Konami are reserving this for The Phantom Pain which has been tipped for an early 2015 release.

Have you played Ground Zeroes yet, what are your thoughts on it so far?
