By Updated on

Developer Rovio has highlighted the debut trailer for Angry Birds Epic as gamers look forward to the next Angry Birds instalment heading to iOS and other mobile platforms shortly. While territories like Canada, New Zealand and Australia have already received the new game, fans from other regions are waiting patiently for Angry Birds Epic to release worldwide.

The new trailer courtesy of Rovio gives us a brief impression of what the anticipated game looks like and we have embedded the 45 second footage below for those of you wanting to see this in action. From what we can see this looks like a turned based role-playing game and this has accumulated a mixed response from fans.

Some are intrigued about a different style of gameplay compared to the more familiar versions, while some remain sceptical about whether this will be as popular as previous Angry Birds titles. Only last week we discussed a new crafting mechanic within the game that allows gamers to create and customize a variety of gear and items as we looked at the first details revealed for Angry Birds Epic.

We now understand that the game is also expected to arrive on Android and Windows Phone 8 in the future, along with a system that includes microtransactions. The new title is explained further on the Eurogamer website as they run through what is shown in the video.

In this they mention the turn-based RPG party combat, which is set in the fantasy version of the Piggy Island, along with reports from Rovio suggesting the storyline involved with the campaign has a “challenging” endgame.

An extensive crafting system will be available within Angry Birds Epic and this will involve enhancements to likes of weaponry and armour with resources the player can collect or buy via microtransactions.

The early version of this has already been released in the aforementioned territories, but the final version is still yet to come out globally on iOS, Windows Phone 8 and Android, so are you looking forward to a new take on the Angry Birds saga? Check out the trailer below and let us know your thoughts.
