AM General MV-1 production resumes, price an issue

How many times have you seen a disabled person having to use a vehicle that started life as a van and then was converted in order to allow easy access for a wheelchair? While these vehicles do a good job, isn’t it far better to have a vehicle that has been specifically designed to be handicap-accessible?

The AM General MV-1 is one of those vehicles, and while it had been available before, it had to end production. However, we can now tell you that AM General MV-1 production has resumed once again, although this does come at a price.

If you are interested in one, then the AM General MV-1 cost starts at $50,000 and goes up to $60,000, depending on the model you choose.

WSBT reports that the Vehicle Production Group used to produce this vehicle and when they closed things down it was left to AM General to pick up the pieces and start production once again.

The MV-1 is very important for wheelchair users because it is the first vehicle of its kind to be designed specifically for those users, as well as their families.

Let’s make one thing clear, the MV-1 isn’t the best looking vehicle in the world, but it’s not about that because it is the uniqueness of the vehicle that makes it stand out.

The main MV-1 features are as follows, a power ramp that comes out from beneath the van, space for two wheelchairs, and that’s pretty much it. Another thing that makes this van all the more special is how one wheelchair user is able to sit up front next to the driver, meaning they will not feel left out.

This is a no-frills vehicle because it has just one purpose, and that is to transport wheelchair users better than other vehicles.
