We love the kids Reading Eggs apps for iPad, iPhone, iPod, and Android that allow children to keep learning even when on the move. Young children will love to learn with interactive devices, especially on the bigger iPad display, and they can learn with a number of apps found by using the Reading Eggs login on their website or directly at app stores.
Some apps only feature smaller screen versions and while they support tablets, it is normally not a dedicated version taking advantage of screen real estate. There’s 12 Reading Eggs apps found on this official webpage and many of these educational games have dedicated tablet versions.
The screenshot above comes from their Eggy Numbers to 100, this Reading Eggs app screen was taken from an iPad and can be found on iTunes right here. You need to part with a little cash, $2.99, but after giving the app a quick review we felt that the money is well spent. This specific app is designed to teach kids aged 6-8 addition skills and Eggy Numbers to 100 features 6 interactive games, 15 unlockable characters, a number of difficulty levels, and a choice of accents.
Other Reading Eggs apps for iPad and iPhone/iPod that we haven’t tried include Eggy Alphabet, Eggy Numbers, Eggy Word SNAP, Tap The Cat, Eggy Phonics, Eggy Words, Eggy Vocabulary, Eggy Add to 20, Eggy Nursery Rhymes, Targeting Maths, and Spelling Games. It is worth noting only Eggy Words and Eggy Alphabet are on Android, although we cannot confirm if the other apps will release on Android at some point.
We have included some gameplay below for the Eggy Numbers to 100 app by Reading Eggs, although many more videos can be found on the official website by using the link at the start of this article.
Have you been hands-on with a Reading Eggs app? If so, how do you rate them compared to other educational apps available on iTunes and Google play?
Personally, I love the idea of kids learning using apps like this rather than spending all day on YouTube watching videos or playing mindless games. With that said, it really is about balance between learning in a fun way and having mindless fun for time out of learning.
