Samsung Galaxy S5 Vs Galaxy S4 review

By Updated on

It’s time for the Galaxy S4 to move down from its Android throne, as the Samsung Galaxy S5 is likely to take its place for the foreseeable future. The big question that most are asking though, is whether the Galaxy S5 upgrade from S4 is worth it and the benefits that Samsung are offering compared to the last model.

The pressure really is on Samsung with their new flagship, as they’ll know full well that the majority of consumers will be more than happy to keep their Galaxy S4 which will remain one of the best handsets on the market.

What Samsung has done though is provide some clever upgrades to make the decision a tempting one from a consumer’s perspective. Many had wanted to see Samsung improve on the display with a 2K supported Galaxy S5, but unfortunately we didn’t see it.

Instead, Samsung has made the bare minimum upgrade to their display, going for a 5.1-inch instead of a 5.0-inch with the resolution remaining the same at 1080 x 1920 pixels.

The Galaxy S5 processor department is a much more pleasing affair though, as Samsung has treated fans by upgrading to a 2.5GHz Snapdragon 400 quad core chip, compared with the Galaxy S4 which has a quad-core 1.9GHz chip instead – there’s still 2GB of RAM on board though however.

There is also a massive improvement with the Galaxy S5 camera as well, perhaps one of the most strongest elements of the upgrade. Samsung has boosted the camera to a 16 megapixel sensor compared to 13 megapixel on the S4, however the Galaxy S5 has the ability to record video in stunning 4K resolution at a resolution of 3840×2160 and 30 FPS.

The included 2800 mAh battery may not be a good as you were expecting to see on the Galaxy S5 too, so it may be a device that impresses you in some areas, but ultimately falls short in other areas.

As we wait for Samsung to announce the crucial Galaxy S5 price in UK and US, let us know your initial reaction on the handset. Are you already willing to give your money to Samsung for the upgrade?
