The popularity of Thief has mirrored that of the next gen consoles, with gamers favoring the PS4 version over Xbox One. Naturally it is more likely the sales for PS4 will be higher as more units have been sold, but there is quite a big gap that has opened up between the games machines.
Thief stormed straight to the top of the UK games chart after being released last week, with 46% of copies sold being on the PS4. The dominance of Sony’s console is really highlighted here, almost half of the total Thief sales have been bought up on the single platform, with the other three having to take significantly smaller portions.
Gear Nuke has reported that Xbox One accounted for 29% of Thief sales, with the Xbox 360 racking up 14% and the PS3 taking the smallest share of 8%. In terms of PlayStation versus Xbox, Sony is slightly ahead of Microsoft in next gen but the Xbox 360 is still selling more than the PS3 in general.
You can see a comparison between the graphics on Thief for PS4 and Xbox One here. These Thief sales have really underlined how the next generation consoles are now rising above their predecessors. What platform did you buy Thief on, did it meet your expectations?
