We have some potentially excited news for fans of the Mass Effect series, as BioWare is considering re-releasing the original trilogy for next gen. The developer has confirmed they have discussed a potential Mass Effect 1, 2 and 3 for PS4 and Xbox One, acting as a tasty stop gap until Mass Effect 4.
The request for the Mass Effect trilogy to be remastered in 1080p at 60 frames per second was requested by a fan on Twitter, to which BioWare general manager Aaryn Flynn responded with some positive news. In a reply tweet Flynn said that “We have discussed that internally. If we put together solid plans we’ll share. Great to hear you’re keen.”
Re-releasing the previous Mass Effect games would be very popular with fans, but what they will probably want more is Mass Effect 4 on Xbox One and PS4. The last we heard on this upcoming game, there was a Mass Effect 4 trailer being teased after the development studio confirmed they had been filming.
It seems there is still a lot of work to be done but the project is well on track, perhaps a quick fire Mass Effect trilogy bundle plus DLC content on the next gen platforms will keep us occupied while we wait? This bundle has already been released for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC so it is entirely possible if BioWare are given enough good reasons to pursue the idea.
Would you like to see a next gen re-release of the Mass Effect trilogy or should BioWare focus on releasing Mass Effect 4 as soon as possible?
