We have a warning to all social media users now, especially those that love H&M and are looking out for the latest online deals. It’s come to our attention that a free H&M $500 gift card offer is doing the rounds online, but we can already confirm to you that it’s yet another scam designed to trick users.
It’s not the first time that we have seen a Facebook scam and it definitely isn’t going to be the last. This is yet another example of the methods that some users will go to for their own personal benefits and this latest scam has targeted the hungry shopper, with a cruel scam that looks very tempting at first.
Below is a screenshot showing the scam in action. It claims to offer a $500 H&M gift card for free, for everyone who is willing to share the page in question, leave a comment and cunningly asking users to offer their feedback on ‘how they will spend their voucher’.
The scam then lies to consumers to trick them into believing that a voucher will be sent to them after performing these steps, but sadly there is no such $500 gift card promotion in sight.
H&M has already left a message on their Facebook page within the hour, confirming that this is nothing but an online scam designed to hurt users, and definitely isn’t anything connected to an official H&M offer.
It goes without saying that if an offer looks too good to be true, it usually is. By ‘liking’ these online scams like we see that over 10,000 users already have, you are only leaving yourself open for your personal data to be under threat.
Let us know if you fell for this scam and left a comment on the H&M voucher page. Be sure to take more care when looking out for similar social media ‘offers’.
