New Gears of War expected to reinstall faith in the franchise

By Updated on

Since new studio Black Tusk has taken over the Gears of War franchise we can expect to see some changes to evolve the series, but we are unsure whether new improvements and enhancements could take away that familiar feel that fans of the series enjoy.

Either way we are hoping this will bring fans back to the series and Microsoft Studios head Phil Spencer feels this new game needs to “reignite the franchise“. In an informative report on CVG they highlight how new studio Black Tusk has been given time to produce their first Gears of War title that will not only bring back fans, but accumulate new ones.

From what we understand the studio are working on an Xbox One version and Phil Spencer recently tweeted about how this franchise needs to grow with the upcoming instalment. These comments were revealed when he was cornered about the vague release window, and we get the impression there is no rush to reveal this just yet.

Spencer continues to avoid the main question here and goes on to discuss his confidence in the team. On the existing Xbox 360 the franchise has been positively reviewed in the past, but the last instalment did not seem to be as appreciated. Gears of War: Judgement was regarded by some as too familiar and this has accumulated in a call for a fresh approach to the franchise.

While some fans enjoy the last instalment and the familiarity, others have expressed how the franchise is starting to become repetitive and we understand that by the time Judgement came out a lot of the value had been lost.

So, are you expecting to see a new direction from Black Tusk? Alternatively, are you hoping this franchise doesn’t stray too far away from what fans love about the series?
