Upcoming open world puzzle game Rime is an exclusive for PS4, however Microsoft has revealed that they previously rejected it for the Xbox One. Rime is currently being developed by Tequila Works who gave Microsoft the opportunity, now admitted they have made a mistake by turning the game down.
Phil Spencer has been interacting with the Twitter community as always and commented that “part of the job is living with mistakes”, when asked why he rejected Rime. The head of Microsoft Studio’s then went on to say that he had many regrets over missed titles but prefers to focus on the games that did successfully ship.
According to IGN some leaked reports shows that Tequila Works offered Rime to Microsoft as an Xbox One exclusive, back when it was known as Echoes of the Siren. Following this rejection it has become clear that Tequila Works went away and jumped into bed with Sony instead, allowing Rime to become a PS4 exclusive title.
Rime has been likened to a hybrid of Minecraft, Jason and the Argonauts and Gauntlet. The game revolves around the player exploring a huge open world island in the daytime, searching for resources such as weapons, tools and food. By night time you have to protect yourself from the monsters that inhabit the island, sounds like fun to us!
