We have some fantastic news for Doom fans as the game will be coming back, possibly later this year. A new trailer for Wolfenstein: The New Order has teased the return of the classic horror shooter, with Doom Beta invites being given to those who purchase Wolfenstein.
Bethesda has confirmed to CVG that this is the next entry into the main Doom series and that the beta will not begin until a later, yet to be announced date. Gamers that pre-order or buy Wolfenstein will receive an insert inside their boxed copy of the game, providing a key code and redemption instructions. Entering your code will result in your registration to participate in the Doom beta when it launches in the future.
Last April, Bethesda confirmed that they had rebooted a Doom 4 project which had previously been shelved for failing to produce the quality and excitement the developers wanted. Since then news on the Doom reboot front has been quiet, until now. This potential Doom 4 remake could revive the franchise on next gen platforms and do justice to the originals which were classics back in the day.
Wolfenstein: The New Order launches for the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3 and PC on May 20th in the US, Europe will get the game on the 23rd. If buying the game alone was not good enough then players have a whole new incentive to buy Wolfenstein. You can check out the new trailer below along with the Doom Beta reveal at the end of the video.
How happy are you that Doom is coming back, what would you like to see from a next gen reboot in particular?
