Jaguar F-Type Targa expected, manual transmission preferred

Ian Callum started a bit of a debate several days ago when he replied to a comment in regards to an F-Type Targa, as the lead designer confirmed that Jaguar is considering yet another new body type of this ever-popular vehicle. It’s clear that there are many of you out there who would welcome a Targa version, even though it would not be able to be called that for legal reasons.

Even though a Jaguar F-Type Targa is expected, it’s not the most desired change for this model. What people would really like to see is an all-new Jaguar F-Type manual transmission option because this is much preferred as it would give a driver greater control.

We are not saying there is anything wrong with an automatic gearbox, but you don’t get to feel completely in control, and this is what makes the F-Type a little less special.

Let’s not get too ahead of ourselves here because Ian has said that while Jaguar are considering a third variant of the model, it’s is not a definite, but looking at the render thanks to OPPO it certainly is food for thought.

The Jaguar F-Type Targa render does look a little strange, although that is just because we are used to the two other variants, whereas this could be the happy medium that drivers are looking for?

Jaguar will no doubt look into the numbers to see if the F-Type Targa would be a viable option because numbers could be as low as 10 percent of overall sales. Having said that, surely if they released this version with a manual gearbox, then they would make this a more desirable vehicle?
