Apple’s 2014 tablet offering may skip a potential new iPad Mini 3 and instead focus on a better upgrade with the iPad Air 2 instead. This strategy from Apple has been predicted by market analysts, who also predict that the rumored iPad Pro will not be launched this year either.
There is no reason why Apple can’t launch a selection of new iPad’s this year, despite the report from leading analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities. If these predictions are accurate and Apple do only release one new iPad, it could be as a result of the potential iWatch development and other new product categories the company will be introducing throughout 2014.
The new iPad Air 2 would likely feature an even faster A8 processor, improved screen resolution, TouchID fingerprint scanner, stronger battery life and upgraded camera. As far as any iPad Mini 3 goes, it seems like most of a question of when opposed to if, a no show this year would almost certainly result in a 2015 release.
The analyst’s report has not claimed that the iPad Mini 3 and iPad Pro will be scrapped, only that they will not be launched this year. It is entirely possible that Apple will introduce the larger iPad Pro next year to fight off Samsung’s wave or larger devices, such as the Galaxy Tab Pro. All new iPad’s this year will be expected to run iOS 8.
T3 reports that any iPad Pro launch would drive Apple’s tablet growth as it would be taken up by many businesses, offering a new alternative in the workplace. Whilst these are still just rumors, it is very likely we will see at least 1 of the 3 tablets mentioned.
