For those of you after Halo 5 release date news it has been confirmed by the voice actor for Master Chief that the game will be ready for 2015. Instead the Anniversary Edition of Halo 2 will come first; anyone holding out for a Halo 5 on Xbox One this year will have to wait.

In an interview with GameZone, Steve Downes who plays Master Chief announced that players would look forward to the Halo 2 Anniversary Edition in 2014, 10 years on from its original release. Halo 2 is considered by some to be the catalyst for defining Xbox Live, helping to make it what is it today.

When quizzed on a possible Halo 5 release, Downes said that anyone expecting it to launch this year is getting ahead of themselves and shouldn’t expect anything until 2015. It can be assumed that this will be the first Halo title developed to the strengths of next generation hardware, of course being an Xbox One and Xbox 360 exclusive with a PC release further down the line.

Information on Halo 5 has been kept very secretive, it is expected that 343 Industries are the developers again. We have seen what looks to be a leaked image of a Halo 5 themed Xbox One controller, with an exclusive skin. If we are lucky we could get some teaser info at E3 in the summer.

If you are excited for the release of Halo 5 in 2015 then let us know what your expectations are for it and if you will be buying the Anniversary Edition first.
