The 2014 British Academy Games Awards nominations have now been announced and while there are several categories, there is always one that generates more interest, and that is the Best Game. There are six titles in this category, but the two with the best chance of winning has to be out of The Last of Us or GTA V.

As for the other four titles these are Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, Papers Please, Super Mario 3D World and Tearaway. These are all great games but let’s face it, they are not in the same league as The Last of Us or Grand Theft Auto 5.

Naughty Dog’s title is up for ten BAFTA Video Game Award nominations, while Rockstar’s game is up for eight, which is still a superb achievement. We know that both developers will want to win as many titles as possible, but taking the award for the best video game would be the most important.

Going on the opinion of gamers over the past few months, The Last of Us is considered a masterpiece and following the awards will no doubt mean Naughty Dog will have to make some more space in its trophy cabinet.

PS4 owners have been asking when TLOS is likely to be ported to Sony’s new console, and you will be pleased to learn that ND has not ruled it out.

GTA V is also wanted on the PS4 and the Xbox One, although the PC version is the most likely port first. However, Rockstar has yet to offer any guidance as to when.
