Today is February 11, 2014 and is a very significant day if you own an Xbox One, as the new console will be getting its update. We already knew that the Xbox One update was going live today as this has been discussed on numerous occasions, although as yet we do not know the time as to when the download will go live.
We’ve been asking Xbox One owners we know in various parts of the world and there is still no sign of this update, and so this makes us believe that the new update will not go live until early or late morning, dependent where you are in the U.S.
From what Venture Beat is reporting, Microsoft is still determining the time of when the Xbox One update will go live, although seeing as though this was reported yesterday we can be pretty certain that Microsoft has nailed down the time, just wish they would pass that information on to Xbox One owners.
However, the source also says that the update will not be a simultaneous one, which means that when it goes out later today in the United States, Xbox One owners in the UK and other parts of the world might have to be a little patient. The reason for this is so Microsoft can make certain its servers are ready for the update, which as we know will cause a huge strain.
There is one other issue, the Xbox One is not able to start the update automatically, and so you will have to start the process manually. This has caused some Xbox One owners to be outraged by this, but it’s not as though you will have to do this all the time, as this update will make it a thing of the past because it adds the automatic download feature.
Once you receive the update we’d like to know what improvements you have found, or if you have come across any problems?
Update: Microsoft announced on Twitter that the Xbox One update will not happen today, and so will take place later this week.
