LG curved OLED TV slashed half price, no 4K

By Updated on

LG has slashed one of their curved OLED TVs down half price in an effort to make the product more affordable, but with no 4K. The LG 55EA9800 has been on sale for roughly 6 months and can now be picked up for a heavily discounted price. With 4K on the rise and these model not featuring ultra HD, it is debatable whether this is a deal worth taking.

The original launch price of LG’s 55 inch TV was $14,999 and has now been dramatically reduced to the more manageable cost of $7,999. However LG are offering an instant $1000 debate on the TV taking it down to an even lower price of $6,999 If you live in the UK then the price of the curved LG TV will be £4,999 compared to the previous price of £7,999.

Despite these heavy reductions this is still an expensive set but LG has claimed they want to add even more affordability to these sleek OLED products. The curved element of the HD TV is supposed to enhance the viewing experience; however thus far it has been unconvincing and has been branded as a pointless novelty by Tech Radar who reviews the TV.

LG has announced their goal to expand the US OLED TV market, starting with this promotion. It is not clear whether the LG 55EA9800 even offers value for money at the discounted price. Without 4K capabilities, spending such a chunk of money on superseded TV does not seem like a logical decision many would take.

Whilst enormous price cuts like these can be very tempting, this particular deal seems like one to stay away from. Putting this money towards a newer 4K TV would probably be the best option but of course it comes down to consumer preference. We have seen Samsung trying to get people on the Ultra HD bandwagon with a starter pack containing Netflix 4K streaming.

Will you be taking advantage of this offer or are you investing in 4K?
