The built-in camera apps on the latest smartphones have improved significantly over the years, although they still lack in terms of key features needed when sharing images socially. There has been some great photo editing apps over the years, but none as popular and impressive as the Instagram camera app.

The number of filters on this app is plentiful, although just like Hipstamatic, something will always come along to offer even more, and that app is the Rookie Photo Editor app by Jellybus.

Looking at the number of filters in this app, we would have to say that Rookie is one of if not the best Instagram camera app alternatives on the App Store. The app was released just last month, and there is already a new update for it.

Rookie Photo Editor update 1.01 features – The developer knew that some new features were needed and so have now improved on camera focus accuracy and exposure, photos taken in Burst Mode will now be imported correctly and finally, Jellybus has resolved a few issues by including several bug fixes, although they do not list what they are.

If you feel as though the filters included within this free app are not enough, then you can opt to make a few in-app purchases, one of which includes the Premium Filters Pack for $1.99.

Other upgrades include an Upgrade Pack for $4.99, Premium Stickers Pack for $2.99 and a Premium Shapes Pack for $0.99.

Have you given this Instagram camera app alternative a go yet, if not check out the video below to see what it’s all about.
