Samsung Android 4.4 KitKat roadmap includes Galaxy S3, Note 2

By Updated on

With the Android 4.4 KitKat adoption rate moving along at a steady pace it comes as no surprise to us that Samsung is happy taking a bit more time in announcing its roadmap for the latest version of Android. However, news has now become available that could offer some insight into what handsets will see the upgrade next.

Even though the company has yet to make an official announcement, news has leaked from a reliable source that the Samsung Android 4.4 KitKat roadmap has finally been listed, and we can clearly see that the Galaxy S3 and the Note 2 are on there.

We pretty much knew the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Note 2 were being upgraded to Android 4.4 KitKat, with an expected release date in March. However, Phandroid also has details of some of the other popular smartphones from Samsung.

Two handsets that appear on the list already have the most up-to-date version of KitKat, which is Android 4.4.2, while it’s still a waiting game for the others.

Those other devices include the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0, Mega, S4 Zoom, Note 8.0, and the S3 Mini.

As for when these devices will see Android 4.4 KitKat go live, we have no idea, but at least we know Samsung’s intentions. Looking at that list we can clearly see that Samsung is offering support for devices as far back as 2012, but that’s as far as the support goes back for now.
