Earlier this week Microsoft announced that Gears of War will get an Xbox One release, delighting gamers across the globe. What they may not be delighted about is that development has only just started and there will be no 2014 release for the next gen title, as it faces at least a 2 year wait.
The monstrously successful franchise has only been in development for a week according to Microsoft Studios boss Phil Spencer, after buying the rights to the franchise from Epic Games. Spencer confirmed that the leadership team had been involved in the project for a month, but development is in its infancy.
It is likely that an Xbox One project on the scale of Gears of War is going to take at least 2 years to create. Although we all want the game to launch as quickly as physically possible, it will not benefit anyone to rush production. It would appear that 2016 seems like the most sensible release period to expect, Microsoft will reportedly not hesitate to extend this to 2017 though.
We will bring our readers more details on the game and its launch as we get them, how do you feel about the timescale that has been predicted by Microsoft?
