It looks like Sony are finally ready to go full steam ahead with the PS Vita Slim release date. We have seen the new PS Vita launched in Japan successfully, but will gamers in the UK and US embrace the slimmer version? We have a quick heads-up on how the new model with LCD display compares against the original which rocks a OLED display instead.
Although Sony has been rather quiet on the possibility of launching the new PS Vita 2000 in the west, we can confirm that pre-orders are just about to start for the system.
In fact we can also tell you that pre-orders will officially start on Thursday January 30 and the PS Vita Slim price in UK will be £189. For that asking price though, Sony will throw in a game, although the choice of game has not been revealed yet.
As we told you with the Japanese launch though, there is a significant difference in quality compared to OLED and it may not be a downgrade that you are willing to live with.
To give you an example of what we mean, just watch the video below to see the differences in gameplay and brightness between the PS Vita 1000 and PS Vita 2000 Slim.
There’s a series of tests with games such as Rayman, Gravity Rush and Wipeout. Just look at the difference for yourself and let us know if this is fine with you – most will say that they prefer the OLED screen we feel.
Are you a bit worried about the significant decrease in screen quality on the slim? Give us your thoughts on this below.
