Despite all of the talk about the Elder Scrolls Online recently, Skyrim is still selling and has now hit the 20 million sales mark, without the help of an Xbox One or PS4 release. The hugely successful 2011 game is still held in high regards and is still being bought in the run up to the ESO launch.

Skyrim hits sales mark without Xbox One, PS4 release

This impressive milestone makes Skyrim one of the best selling video games in history, a feat that the award winning title fully deserves. There had been a lot of speculation that Bethesda were planning to re-launch Skyrim on the next gen consoles, treating players to even more stunning graphics, a feature that the game was heavily praised for originally.

There rumors came to life when listings for the Xbox One and PS4 versions of the game surfaced, however these reports have been denied and put down to a system error rather than a leak. Unfortunately Bethesda has confirmed that they do not have any plans to bring Skyrim out on the next generation platform, with a focus on the upcoming Elder Scrolls online clearly the priority.

Whilst it is a shame that fans of the Elder Scrolls series will not be able to experience Skyrim on the new consoles, the Online game and 6th edition of the franchise can be looked forward to. If you are wondering whether you should subscribe to the ESO then take a look at the reviews that beta players from the game have said about it already.

Are you impressed by Skyrim’s landmark sales and disappointed that it will not be released on Xbox One and PS4?
