One of the most anticipated games of 2014 is Thief, the stealth game from Eidos Montreal that is scheduled to land on platforms this February. Two of these platforms are PS4 and Xbox One, but we have heard whispers recently suggesting that the Xbox One version of Thief may not be able to output at 1080p resolution.
You will remember the drama created by Call of Duty Ghosts and Battlefield 4 around the time of next-gen launches. It’s no secret that resolution is incredibly important to fans in today’s climate, arguably being one of the most important factors that gamers now take into consideration before buying a game.
February 28 is the official release date for Thief in America, but fans may want some answers on these rumors posted by Eurogamer. An insider boldly claims that Thief on Xbox One won’t be able to hit full resolution, meaning that we could see either another 720p or 900p game at launch.
While we wait for further evidence on this, there’s still no confirmation at this point that the PS4 version of Thief is going to run at 1080p native. We expect it will, but then we need to wait and see if any developers at Eidos Montreal want to shed light on this.
How important is Thief to you this year? Is it one of your most anticipated games of 2014 and does the resolution rumors affect your purchase or not?
