In order to make a believable game with a medieval sort of setting, then one of the most important things is to have the right voice cast. More often than not developers go for the English accent because it seems to fit with the setting compared to that of an America accent.
This is just what ZeniMax Online Studios has done with most of the voice cast for Elder Scrolls Online and while this is good for the game, it has left a rather horrible taste in the mouth of those who want the game.
The reason for this is because the voice cast is an assembly of fine British actors, such as Michael Gambon, Bill Nighy, Malcolm McDowel and John Cleese. The voice and acting talents of these will bring far more to the game rather than lesser-known actors, but it makes us wonder if getting less famous actors would have meant more money could have been spent on other areas of the game, just as some gamers have suggested?
We don’t have to convince you that this is a great cast, but then you are more worried about the price of these actors, as the Elder Scrolls Online price has been a bit of a thorny issue for current beta players, as well as those who intend on getting the game.
However, even if the developers went for cheaper actors this would not bring the monthly price of Elder Scrolls Online down, and so the game will be much better with them. Come on, Bill Nighy puts so much passion into his work and Michael Gambon offers depth and sincerity to his roles, and this will surely come out in his character?
Do you feel this collection of voice talent will be lost within the game, or do you feel as though it will bring more complexity to the game? Then there is the question of whether you think having such fines actors was needed, or would it not have mattered if cheaper, lesser-known actors had been used?
